Extra Curricular

A number of extra curricular activities are available to students throughout the year. These currently include Athletics, Basketball, Football, Girls Club, Handball, Debating, Art Club, Tag Rugby, Creative Writing, Hill walking, Hurling, Camogie, Boxercise, and Zumba and The Gaisce Awards’ and much more.
Our annual sports day takes place in Lahinch’s Sports Field, in which staff and students participate and compete in teams. School tours and field trips take place locally, nationally and internationally.
Recent trips abroad by the school include climbing Kilamanjaro, and trips to Barcelona and Italy.

Sports

Our students participate in a number of school based sporting events including football, basketball, camogie and many more. We also actively encourage and support our students competing in sporting events outside of school.

Students Council

Ennistymon Vocational Student Council gives students an active voice and platform in the
decision making of our school. Each year elects two of their peers to represent their views on the Student Council.
The council promotes leadership and active citizenship within the student body.

After School Study

Supervised study commences in September and continues until the end of May.
Sessions run from 4 –6.10pm Monday to Thursday.
Project work and extra study days are held on Fridays and during school breaks in order to maximise results .
Study skills workshops are run to teach students how to use their study time effectively.
Regular use is made of the Virtual Learning Environment EDMODO where students can manage their learning beyond the classroom.

Awards & Achievements

The school gives annual awards to students. Academic awards are given in each subject area to students who receive the highest result in their exams. A special award is given to best overall junior and senior level student. Sports awards are presented to teams of individual students who have excelled in their sport.
Gaisce (The President’s Award) is presented to students who complete their programme.
Students are encouraged and supported in entering national competitions with great success.
